Although I can be on the salacious side at times, those who know me understand that beneath my sometimes ascerbic tongue, beats the heart of a deeply spiritual person.
I have my grandmother to thank for this.
Not only did she make certain my early childhood was replete with experiences like Sunday school and the making of popsicle stick crosses to put into my basket at easter, she taught me all the great hymns so that to this day I am one of the few people in my social circle who knows the words to the Old Rugged Cross, How Great Thou Art, and her all time favourite "In the Garden."
When I was a little older, my grandparents moved to the country and I could no longer attend church with them - but this didn't stop me. My best friend Cindy and I would get up early Sunday mornings, put on our very best dresses and ride the bus to the Charleswood United Church where the two of us would attend services.
It's a good thing too. After the trouble the two of us got ourselves into during highschool, we needed all the spiritual support we could get.
Over the years, I gained an appreciation for the vastness of spirituality and the beauty of this thing called existence - the sweet uncertainty that comes with wondering about the unknown.
When I was a little girl it was all very simple: When people died, they wore white robes, had halos, and went to live in this white fluffy, and totally magical place called heaven where they could have all the marshmallows and candy they wanted forever and ever amen.
As an adult, however, the possibilities of what happen to us after we die are less clear. Though I may believe one thing and you may believe another, at the end of the day, none of us really knows for sure.
Belief, like love, is something that you feel.
As such, while most people will look for a flaw in an electrical outlet if the lights flicker, I automatically wonder: "Grandpa is that you?"
Because of this, I've probably had more close encounters of the ghostly kind than the average Jane and run the risk in certain company of looking a little woo woo.
This, however, does not deter me.
Mostly because I realize people think I'm woo woo anyway, but also because of my unwavering belief that there is a vastness and a goodness out there that is beyond our wildest ability to comprehend.
A belief that has rubbed off on others; creating a richer sense of existence for the people around me.

When my grandparents died they let themselves be known.
With my grandfather came the smell his cologne.
I'd be sitting on the couch watching TV or reading a book and I'd get the slightest hint of a scent. Enough to make me sit up and take notice, but never so much that it filled the room. As such it was elusive enough to leave me wondering.
After my grandmother passed away, she was more obvious and for at least two years after she died, I could feel her presence - especially when I was in the kitchen.
During this two year period we began having strange experiences with the TV in our living room. On several occasions it turned itself off, and once it even turned itself on.
It also became a regular occurence for our stereos to do the same.
Most memorably, one day after school while TH was in my room watching tv our DVD player began to play "Money" by Pink Floyd.
TH came flying down the hall, his eyes as big as saucers, screaming "Something's wrong with the stereo!!!!"
***
Luckily, I've been his mother long enough that when things like this happen now he just shrugs and says, "Hi Grandma."
***
Although I'm certain my grandparents live on in my life in ways both big and small, I haven't felt the tangible energy of their presence in a long time.
The last time my grandma let herself be known was Christmas a few years ago when the living room stereo turned itself on at the exact moment I was looking at a tree ornament that had belonged to her. While a slow, nostalgic tear rolled down my cheek, Silent Night began to play.
So you can understand why, on that long last drive to the vet with Ziggy, I was serious when I asked my grandmother to be waiting for him when he got to where he was going.
***
Last Saturday night, feeling lonely and grief stricken, I told the PB I needed some kind of sign to let me know the dog was all right and that he had gone on.
The next morning I was sitting in front of the computer writing a blog, and as per usual, was completely immersed in the process.
At one point I noticed an anomalous sound coming from somewhere down the hallway but because I was so involved in what I was writing, it took about five minutes to register that the sound was out of place.
When I finally began to listen, it sounded like a pipe had burst.
At first I thought it was coming from outside, but as I made my way toward the back door, it became evident that the sound was coming from inside my house toward the back bathroom or my bedroom.
"Great," I thought as I made my way down the hall, "On top of everything else, we've got a water problem."
But the sound wasn't coming from the bathroom.
It was coming from our bedroom.
The stereo had turned itself on - this time to the radio.
The sound I was hearing was static because it wasn't set to a particular station.
The minute I realized what it was, I knew.
Maybe if it had happened a few months ago I wouldn't have attached the same significance to it.
But in the spirit of "timing is everything," this had me taking notice.
The next morning when I woke up, I looked at the digital clock on the same stereo.
It read 6:15 am and I wondered if I should get up, or loll around in the rack for another half hour.
After a few minutes, I decided that since I was awake anyway, I may as well get up. So I rolled out of bed and went to get a cup of coffee.
When I came back to the room, I went to check the time. The stereo had, this time, managed to unplug itself just enough from the outlet so that the clock had gone blank.
One happening could have been chalked up as a coincidence, but two in a row, right after this kind of loss, are enough for me to look to the heavens and say "Thanks Grandma, wherever you are."
And that's the blog.
Now dish it...
Tell me about your own experiences. The times you can't quite put your finger on where you were sure you felt something, or saw something, or heard something, or smelled something.
Those moments of knowing or feeling the presence of love in the room.
Share them either here in the comments or in a blog of your own.
If you blog about them, please be sure to let me know and send me a link so I can include it tomorrow, or provide a direct link to your blog today.
I'm going to leave with one of my favourite stanza's of poetry ever written. It's from Relics of Joy by Thomas Moore and goes:
"Long long be my heart with such memories filled
As the vase in which roses have once been distilled
You may break, you may shatter the vase if you will
But the scent of roses will hang round it still"

Hehehe...
We've had this conversation over and over the last few months, and as you know, I've had too many to even recall them all right now.
The most recent that comes to mind was this weekend. I told Swiller to tell me happy birthday.
Nothing.
The next day, I was playing one of those stupid social apps on FB and near every single question was about him...
My favorite?
What kind of ice cream would he be?
I said it would probably taste like "ass".
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
A comment that's a mini-blog. But that's O.K. - I've been away a couple days.
Growing up in Texas, one of my favorite sports was the destruction of wasp nests. Stings hurt, but I wasn't allergic.
Fast forward to 1974. The ex and I were leaving after visiting my Grandmother. Parked in the driveway near the same tree that had been the focus of many a wasp war. My window is down and I've got my arm propped on the sill. The ex asks me "Do you want to stop by and visit your Dad's grave?", And I reply in the negative, because I'm ready to get the hell out of Dodge.
At that precise instant, a single Wasp leaves the current nest, lights on my arm, and stings me. My arm swells up to about twice it's normal size in ten minutes, and I've been allergic to the buggers ever since.
Most would just say that's coincidence. I don't.
I've blogged this one.
My close friend Bill always used to wear Lagerfeld. I would hug him tight just so I could smell like him all night. We drifted apart in the natural course of things.
He committed suicide a few years later...I heard the news a few days after & I was devastated that I had not been there for him. I remember Christmas that year, being in the mall, & was thinking about how I was the only person he ever sent a card to. Suddenly, a waft of Lagerfeld came up from behind me. I turned quickly...& no one was there. No one was even close.
I just smiled & said, "Merry Christmas Bill, I miss you too."
He would do that a lot over the next year or so. :)
I feel a bit out of place since I have never had this kind of experience.
But one thing I do share with you is the love of the old hymns. In fact, I too know all of the words to the three that you named here.
On a related note, I have (a couple of times now) had the experience of "seeing" something before it happens. Twice that I can remember, I told someone else about what I thought might happen only to have it come to pass months later.
Aside from the story I shared about experiencing my grandmother stopping by to say good bye after her death, there was a more profound experience after my grandfather passed.
My grandfather adored me & I him. I grieved his death sorely when he passed. Missed him terribly.
One day I was out making home visits in a rural area of town & stopped at a roadside market to buy fresh from the field strawberries. I didn't pay much attention to the frail elderly gentleman who was running the stand, until he insisted on carry the flat to my car for me.
As I took them from him, he looked at me intently and smiled... & I swear I looked straight into my grandfather's eyes. It nearly buckled my knees... drove off w/ tears in my eyes & whispered "Thank you" to whoever, whatever had brought him back to me, even if for just a moment.
Swiller flavoured ice cream... Now that's a concept! If it didn't taste like ass it would probably come as duct taped shoes. ;)
Hope your birthday was great Pam!
*Grin* I hate to laugh at your pain, but that's a great story.
That'll teach ya!
I loved that one. Lagerfeld is a very distinct smeel too. Thanks for sharing it again Jinx. makes me feel better...
Maybe someday you and I will have the opportunity to meet and sing a few. I also do mean harmony on Amazing Grace. ;)
The mind and spirit are so fascinating to me in the things we have no idea they're capable of. Intuition, etc are all part of that, I believe. It was like when we wanted to sell our house - my gut was telling me "no!" and I've come to a place in my life where I always listen to that voice.
What a beautiful, amazing experience.
I struggle with trying to wrap my brain around why we have to suffer such loss - but then I see how much we learn about love from the experience of death, and I kind of understand.
Thnaks for sharing that Chris.
What a great post! I personally have not had any experiences like the above, but a good friend of mine has.
Major goosebumps throughout your post and the comments! :)
Our house was built in 1817 - so of course there's tons of history we know nothing about. Right after we bought it and moved in, I was up in the finished attic looking for something in the stack'o'boxes I had up there. As I was bent over immersed in a box, a stack of plastic shoe boxes landed on me. I figured I had accidentally bumped it in my hurry to locate whatever it was, so I put them back and made sure they were 'level' and not near my flailing elbows.
Went back to digging through the box and they fell over on me again. I started getting the feeling I was being 'watched', so I put them back, made doubly sure they were not wobbly, crooked or in any way able to fall on their own and went back to my task at hand. They landed on me again.
This time as I was putting them back, I called out to the room in general "OK, that's enough - we love this house and we're not going to do anything to ruin it's character, so you can stop now."
The boxes never budged again.
:)
Sometimes I smell certain things, like the coffee my grandparents used to brew in the morning, when coffee isn't brewing. Something, that reminds me and right now, they are the ones I reminise about the most.
I am totally fascinated by ghost stories, and I love them! I live in England, in part of a Castle that was first built in 1340! I am the only one of the original blood to still live there, and we have heard many stories, and seen things too!
On my blog, I have written about some of these things, and even printed a photo of my Grandfather, who, when I tried,11 times, to take a photo, I kept getting this face just over his left shoulder! Now there is nothing on the actual photo that could cause such a thing! And, at the top of the main staircase is a shadow of a woman looking down at something in her hands. She looks so sad, but I always say "Hello" to her. Whenever anyone goes up or down the stairs, you can hear a step just a couple of treads behind you.
We were brought up here, so we were never afraid, just interested! But I do have a story lined up for Halloween though!
Thanks Eva. It all just makes me feel better - like there's hope we'll all be together again. My spiritual side believes it, but sometimes it's good to get that extra bit of validation.
That is so interesting! And may I say, I am absolutely in envy of your home! The thought of living in a place with so much history in the walls is a dream of mine.
Thanks for sharing such a great story!
Me too Adrienne.
I read somewhere that though people die, our relationships with them, really don't because as long as we think of people the relationship continues. It's different but tis there. In the case of my grandmother, this is so true. Though she's gone physically, her presence in my life and in my memories remains.
That's so cool.
When it's a cool winter day, and the sky is just the right shade of blue, with the wind the right temperature, it takes me back to my grandfather's ranch in West Texas.
I actually didn't mean to write "tis there" - was supposed to be "its" - but tis just kind of sounds better in light of the subject matter. My grandmother was Irish after all ;)
Maven - thanks for dropping by my blog nice to have you hanging around.
I was going to blog about this but I have already used this topic earlier this month and don't really like dwelling too much about my late husband on the blog So I am going to clog up your comments.
I had the same visits as you have experienced. Familiar smells surrounding me, the TV being turned up loud when I am home alone on a different floor. It all made me smile and I am positive once a few months after he died I actually felt him hug me.
The most comforting visit was the days before my father passed away (they passed away 5 months apart). Dad had cancer and was delirious his final days - only person he would talk to was Graham (my late husband). The Tuesday (this is important) before dad passed away I was called to the hospital that he only had a few hours left. He was moved into a private room for the family to be with him. He lived through that Tuesday and all through Wednesday. I offered to stay with him that night so that mom could attempt to sleep, At 2:30am Thursday morning his breathing changed and I called my mom and brother to the hospital. Dad passed away peacefully at 3:30am on a Thursday. My brother looked at me in amazement when we both saw the time - my husband had died at 3:30am five months earlier. What took me a while to realize was that they both not only passed at 3:30am (exactly) but it was also a Thursday for both of them. I honestly believe my husband was there with my dad and that the day and time was important so that I would know all was fine.
Its been a long journey in the past eight years but knowing their spirits are never too far away comforts all of us. My mom is positive that dad visits her regularly.
Thanks for letting me share
Wow, this really hit home! My Mother lived with us and I took care of her for 5 years before she died. Her room was all the way down the hall friom our kitchen so I got her a bell to ring when she needed me. After she died for months I would hear that bell, strt down the hall and then realize she wasn't there and the bell did NOT ring! I also smelled her whenever I went into that room. It HAD been my sons room, and I had never smelled him in that room so.....I'm just sayin..... I also believe that many times when I see a butterfly it is her. OH! And, her nickname was Buddy. She also LOVED the beach. One day after she died, I was walking along the beach at around 5 Pm. The beach was pretty deserted by then but there was a woman throwing a ball into the surf for a dog. I also had been "talking" to mu Mom as I walked. I passed the woman and dog, then when I came back I asked what the dogs name was and, yup, you guessed it.....BUDDY! I knew she was walking right there with me along that beach............ Those have been my experiences, Mave. XO, Pinky
I would love to visit Texas one day. I have many good friends from there and can imagine how beautiful the ranch must have been.
Joanne, thanks for sharing. I have tears in my eyes. You brought your dad and your husband back to life for us and I'm certain that wherever they are, they're pleased to be remembered in this way and introduced to new friends. If your husband and dad are watching I'm letting them know right now to watch for a little black schnauzer :)
The love for your mom came through so clearly in this post that once again I have tears in my eyes.
I can't even begin to explain how grateful I am to have friends who are willing to share in this way. It makes blogging so much more meaningful. tell Buddy to look for Helen - I suspect they'll get on famously :)
Hey Maven!! I used to read your My Space blogs and we commented back and forth to each other a couple of times. But back to your blog, I believe what you say about smelling your grandfather's cologne. After my Grandpop Friel died, I used to know when he was around because I smelled the tobacco from his pipe (not the kind of pipe I used, but I digress LOL).
Several years later, my other grandfather, my grandpop Algeo passed away. The last night he was here with us, our big Irish family was all around him with some irish music that he loved so much playing softly. Several times he almost let go, his breathing slowed down and I could hear his heart slowing down because I was right there with him. Most of the family left and it was just my mom, her two sisters and me there. Bill was a private kind of guy and it didn't surprise me that he wouldn't let go when all of the irritating people were there (sorry! lol) but now he was very peaceful with his daughters and me. The same thing happened, though, with Bill almost letting go but then pulling back to start breathing again. All of a sudden I realized that he didn't want to die with me watching, just his daughters. It was like someone told me that in my head, it was so clear to me. I was a little upset but then I thought about it and realized that he should be with his three daughters at the time he crossed over because they were the ones who took care of him and my grandmom for the longest time.
So I kissed him and held his hand and told him that he better stop and see me on the way to heaven since I was being so rational about the whole thing. I'm sure he was laughing about that.. So I drove home and went to bed around 2 am. I woke up at 4:32am, I remember the time because I'm blind without my glasses or contacts and have one of those obnoxiously large digital clocks. I could feel him all around me as I sat up in bed. I blew him a kiss and told him to hug my dad for me and check up on my dog, Barney. Tell them I said hey.. Then I fell back asleep until my mom called a little after 5am to tell me that Bill had crossed over. But I totally freaked her out because as soon as I answered the phone, I said ""4:32am, right??" before she said anything to me at all. I did this because they all think I'm a little crazy, which I probably am, but I wanted her to hear me tell her the time before she told anyone else. I think my mom became a little more open minded about the afterlife from then on.
I swear that when Bubba was a baby Mr.Fairy's father, Papa Fairy, hung around Bubba's room until he was almost 8months old.
I would go in to check on him every night and his room would always be 10 degrees colder than anywhere else in the house and one corner in particular. I would hear Bubba "talking" to someone sometimes in the middle of the night. There were other things too...things that of course I can't remember now, but somehow I always just knew who it was and what was going on. I said "Hi."
When Bubba was 8mo old Grandpa Fairy died (Mr.Fairy's Grandpa and father to Papa Fairy). After that the visits went from being pretty much constant to less and less frequently.
If Papa Fairy, Grandpa and Grandma Fairy are still watching.(which I don't doubt they are) they are far less conspicuous about it now. Besides, now they have each other for company.
Just don't tell Mr.Fairy I said so. He doesn't believe it's possible and that particular aspect of his father's death is a kind of touchy subject with him. I mentioned it once and he got all pissy. So now, I just let it go... :)
I love it! I am a firm believer there is more to death than jsut fading away. And ones we love never go really far....
My hubby and I are int he process of purchasing/refurbishing his grandmothers home from his mom and aunt. Granny has been gone for 6 years this Thanksgiving.
Now, this house is 100 years old and decorated in 1976 little old lady. And some form or fashion of hubby's family has lived there since the 1930's - and several have died there. His grandfather, Granny, Aunt May and a couple others I never knew. And I think they left all their crap there too....I am going ot be cleaning out that attic for the next 20 years....
Anyway, in the last year we have been doing mass clean out and what not. I was in the kitchen last fall cleaning out the pantry and was singing along with the radio a bit. All of a sudden, the radio goes wonky, but I figured it was jsut the radio as it was old. I go back to re-arranging the pantry when I someone poked me. Like they were trying to get my attention. I turn around - nothing. My son was upstairs and my hubby was in the dining room, around the corner. I go in there to fuss @ him and he was all Noooo, I didn't do it. (And if he did I would have heard him running - the house echose like you would not believe!)
Then there are the doors that open and close by themselves and the cats that go totally nuts @ times when "nothing" is there. My favorite is when I come home to a empty house, no one has been there all day and the record player is going. I told my hubby that Granny likes to party...LOL...And sometimes we will smell Aunt May's cigarette smoke upsatirs. And we do not smoke.
So yeah, Granny is not far. Which makes the hubby feel better. He was her favorite. I thinks she likes we are getting the house. (I have a big porch! WIth a swing!!) So we shall be having our own adventures I am sure....
Tell your Grandma hi next time she fools with the radio.... :-D
Hi Beth :) I remember you well - nice to see you! How's it going? Still doing the healthy eating etc? I've been very on track the last few momnts - yay me!
Thanks for taking the time to share this. It was a wonderful story that made me feel happy - especially the ending. Oh to live a long good life so that when you reach it's end you're ready to go. That's what I want for myself. And I want them singing "It's a long way to Tipperary" raising a pint and having a laugh.
Do you have as blog we can visit?
The PB used to be like that about his dad. Mostly because it just hurt him too much to go there. But I've trained him so well over the years, now, that he's hoping our next puppy will be a reincarnation of Ziggy ;) Apparently he put in a request.
It's amazing, isn't it, when our loved ones move on we can actually feel it. I think I remember you talking about Bubba and how he'd be chattering away. That's so sweet.
I love it!!!!!!! And the house sounds absolutely FABULOUS smoking ghosts and all! I'll bet it's going to be amazing once you get it all done. And there's nothing like front porch. You'll have to share some pictures. Thanks for sharing this Tracy - it was so much fun to read :-D
The story I posted about the childhood home wasn't mine, it was seeking the Truth. It was very spooky though!
What a great piece! I have had numerous "feelings", sightings, and dreams about my grandparents after they passed. They were very real.
Ah ha! It was a good one nonetheless!
It's always good to know others have experienced the same kinds of things :)
What a wonderful post. I agree with you about feeling people's spirits after they're gone. My grandpa was one of my very favorite people and although his passing was no shock, it was very hard. He was my cheerleader in life and always on my side. He used to always say "I'm crazy about you". He would say it real loud and you could tell that he meant it. Sometimes I will be busy, hectic and totally scatterbrained and then all of a sudden I can feel him, just like he's right there. It's always a time when I'm not thinking of anything other than the chaos around me. It just sets in and I can feel him, smell him, like he's sitting right beside me. And, I can hear him telling me that he's crazy about me. It always gives me chills, but in a good way. It only happens a handful of times throughout the year, but it is very powerful and usually makes me well up with emotion. I think this is one of life's blessings and I'm glad to hear you are having simliar experiences. Aren't they heartwarming?
That's strange.
I replied to this earlier and it dissapeared!
Once again, thankyou you for sharing this and for your kind words. It always makes me feel better to know I'm not alone in these kinds of exeperiences.
Maybe it was a ghost ;)

China and Russia put the blame on some screwed up experiments of US for the earthquake that happened in Haiti.
Chinese and Russian Military scientists, these reports say, are concurring with Canadian researcher, and former Asia-Pacific Bureau Chief of Forbes Magazine, Benjamin Fulford, who in a very disturbing video released from his Japanese offices to the American public, details how the United States attacked China by the firing of a 90 Million Volt Shockwave from the Americans High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) facilities in Alaska
If we can recollect a previous news when US blamed Russia for the earthquake in Georgio. What do you guys think? Is it really possible to create an earthquake by humans?
I came across this article about Haiti Earthquake in some blog it seems very interesting, but conspiracy theories have always been there.
Howdy

Never give your password to a stranger: Trust is a delicate thing that takes a long time to build but only second to destroy. You may meet a stranger in poker room and you are friends with him/her. He/she will keep interacting with you days before playing her trick. So be carefull enough to protect your login credentials to yourself, else this may lead to disaster.
Be careful about what you download: Regular online gamers are looking for cheats or hacks for the games they play in order to give them an advantage on their opponents. If you never downloaded any of these programs then you’re probably safe, and if you have then you should run a spyware detection program. The best move will be for get your computer formatted to avoid any loop holes.
Phishing Links: This way of hacking has been thee for quite sometime now. Theives send legitimate and official looking emails to your inbox. When you open them you are asked to click on the link and login in order to save your account or win free facebook poker chips, but in reality you are logging into a fake site that sends your information off to the phisher who made it. Before you find it out, its too late to react and they would have already broken into your account and emptied it of any facebook poker chips that you may have.
YouTube scams: If you do a search on youtube for facebook poker cheats, zynga poker hacks, or free facebook poker chips you’ll find hundreds of videos on the topic. More than 90% of them are made by idiots hoping to convince you to send them your account information. They range from slightly clever to completely moronic.
Image Photo Having Exe Embedded In it: This one is hard to catch. This is the latest fashion that is used by scammer, you will be asked to share family photo's. When you open their photo, that will innitiate an exe in the background which will steal all your information and send to the mastermind behin it. So be careful with whom you share photos.

The French gourmet cheese Bleu d'Auvergne has a wonderful aroma, a rich taste; the saltiness increases with the incidence of veining. The overall flavor is piquant but not overly sharp. Bleu d'Auvergne started life as an imitation of Roquefort, using cow's milk in place of sheep's milk. Legend has it that a peasant, around 1845, decided to inject his cheese with a blue mold that he found growing on his left-over bread (the motto being, waste not, want not). And thus, the gourmet cheese Bleu d'Auvergne was born. This French gourmet blue cheese comes from the region of Auvergne and the cheese is made from milk of Salers and Aubrac cows. The rind is very thin and so the cheese is usually wrapped in foil. The cheese is rich and creamy with a pale yellow color and scattered holes and well-defined greenish-blue veining. We cut and wrap this cheese in wedge of 8 ounces and 1 pound.

Hi,
TOKYO – Nearly a half million people in Japan were ordered to higher ground on Sunday, as coastal areas across the vast Pacific region braced for lethal tsunami waves. But only small waves appeared, and there were no reports of damage.
Areas ranging from Sydney, Australia, to the Russian Far East to the Hawaiian islands conducted evacuations and warned residents to be on the lookout for large waves following the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that devastated parts of Chile on Saturday. The Asia-Pacific region waited in suspense for almost 24 hours, the time that scientists predicted it would take shock waves from the powerful earthquake to race across the ocean in the form of massive waves.
But the predicted time of impact came and went, with only waves of up to 10 centimeters reported near Tokyo and of up to 90 centimeters further north along the Japanese coast. The same was true across the region, where officials breathed an almost audible sigh of relief.
“Luckily, these waves are far smaller than the agency’s forecast,” said Kazuaki Ito, director of the Information Institute of Disaster Prevention, a Tokyo-based non-profit group that advises on natural disasters.
The tsunami warning was lifted in Hawaii on late Saturday after waves of about 1.5 meters were sighted, without any apparent damage. Beaches were briefly cleared of swimmers, and tourists were sent to upper floors of hotels. But nations further west left their alerts in place for much of Sunday, even after waves proved small, in case of additional tsunamis triggered by the huge Chilean temblor.
Nations took the warning seriously in a region where raw memories remain of the deadly December 2004 tsunami in the neighboring Indian Ocean that killed nearly 230,000 people in 14 countries.
Some of the biggest preparations were taken by Japan, where meteorological agency officials issued the nation’s first major tsunami warning in 17 years. They initially said they expected walls of water up to 3 meters, or 9 feet, high.
In Tokyo, train lines and highways in densely populated areas along the edge of Tokyo Bay were stopped for hours. Further north, officials said they ordered the evacuation of some 570,000 households from coastal areas mostly on the main Japanese island of Honshu, a areas that has seen killer tsunamis in the past.
Television news programs showed elderly residents in Iwate prefecture sitting on blankets in school gyms that had been turned into makeshift shelters. In the hilly port city of Hakodate, on the northernmost island of Hokkaido, residents sat on hilltops for hours on Sunday watching the sea.
I was watching on & off the MSNBC coverage and frankly not impressed with their 'scare' tactic coverage - based on scientific fact and investigation the after-effects would be obvious but hey what's with checking things first these days.... granted the potential for loss of life was there but could news channels act again like news channels - reporting the facts not paranoia & spreading fear.....plus I don't want to hear at the end of it all "Thank God he saved us"....if you believe that surely God caused it in the first place too...
What do you think about all these tsunamis thing?

Hi there,
I officially gave up with making money with websites beginning 2010 when I decided to take another approach to making money and not working for a boss. This is when I met James aka 'The Prophet'. James is good at mathematics and he has applied his skills at trading penny stocks. I started trading alongside James and so far I'm having great results. I initially invested $100 which has now grown to $180 in just over a month. How is that for a great return? I invite everyone to join the program and receive daily trading instructions directly in your inbox. You can even give James a call. You don't even have to know how the stock market works. You can get trading within an hour, PennyStockProphet Join the proram, it's risk free, you receive a 2 month money-back guarantee.
